Women have made outstanding strides in the information technology and telecoms arenas, according to Sandra Burmeister, director of Landelahni Leadership Development, a sponsor of the Wired Women Conference: How Technology can Change the World. “Landelahni’s bi-annual ICT research survey shows that female graduates in ICT disciplines have increased nearly four-fold in the past ten years,” she says. “Women are making significant inroads as entrepreneurs and innovators in a traditionally male-dominated industry and are contributing to shaping the digital economy. “This is reflected in the array of topics and talents that has been lined up for the Wired Women Conference. These reflect the achievements of a wide cross-section of women leaders who have harnessed technology to their advantage and that of their organisations.” The Wired Women Conference features the following keynote speakers and topics: • Mardia van der Walt Korsten, MD of T-Systems SA: Leading in a tech environment – Challenges, highlights and lessons learned. • Rapelang Rabana, global head of R&D, TelFree Group: Eagles don’t need parachutes – A glimpse into key insights learned in the sustained pursuit of doing something great • Videsha Proothveerajh, country manager of Intel: A seat at the table – How to build a women-friendly network in a male-dominated culture • Debby Edelstein, co-founder of QualityLife Company: What video games teach us about leadership – A mom’s quest. The Wired Women Conference will be of interest to women in business who are committed to innovation in their organisations and want to learn how the digital economy can fast-track their careers. Organised by the QualityLife Company, the conference is sponsored by women24, Landelahni Leadership Development and Edcon.
