The challenge for Managers or anyone guiding others at work is one of creating an environment where people are allowed and encouraged to be all they can. The theme of the Mentoring Training Programme is one of guiding and assisting in the development of employees or mentees. Mentoring is a communication relationship between a senior organizational member (the mentor) and a more junior organizational member (the mentee). Mentoring plays an important role in the career advancement of mentees. The mentor/mentee relationship impacts on the mentee's career success, often producing benefits such as increased performance, high income, greater work satisfaction, successful goal achievements, leadership and initiative. A mentor guides and assists in the development of a mentee. To support mentoring, organizations can design formal mentoring programmes, ensure that the corporate structure supports mentoring relationships and use the existing pool of managers and top performers effectively. Because mentorship training is about personal development, part of the training of the potential mentors can be about their own holistic development. They could benefit from leadership and influence-, managing conflict- and organizational behaviour and cultural issues courses. Group training serves as a networking and teambuilding exercise for potential mentors in addition to the individual training which they receive.
