Perfect your timing at work

For any business to operate smoothly and efficiently it is of vital importance that excellent and somewhat rigorous time management is practiced by all its employees. In fact to take that type of time management sentiment a step further and apply that same good time management policy to include mid managerial as well top managerial staff as well. The best example is always to lead from the top.

Good time management is the cornerstone of any successful business. In fact it can be said that good time management is the cornerstone of any venture or endeavour. It lays a solid foundation upon which a rock solid work ethic can be built.

Efficient Time Management VS Inefficient Time Management

What are the net results of efficient time management over inefficient time management? Let us look at these two examples individually and examine the consequences of each. First let us examine the latter, inefficient time management. Incidentally both these examples are of particular benefit to new businesses as well as new BEE concerns and enterprises.

Inefficient time management can have very harmful and in some cases, extremely detrimental consequences for any business. This may sound extreme and dramatic but think about it for a moment. Let us say for example that a few employees do not practice any form of efficient time management, this can take the form of tardiness, always showing up late for work or extending lunch breaks or missing deadlines with work projects or even arriving late for important meetings.

All of these examples merely illustrate how, when added up, a few minutes here or there can lead to a significant number of work hours lost per week which leads to a significant loss in potential revenue. In addition it sets a poor precedent for other employees and even worse, presents a poor image of your company when your employee arrives late for an important meeting.

On the other hand good efficient time management has the exact opposite effect on a business, good time management results in improved efficiency, higher work rates leading to increased productivity and a sense of a cohesive collective purpose. Good efficient time management implies a good work ethic and pride in ones responsibilities.

How One Can Improve Employees Time Management Skills?

There are a number of different ways that an employer can remedy poor or inefficient time management practiced by employees. In some cases poor time management is malicious and deliberate, this would naturally require a different course of action compared to the cases where poor time management is merely a result of either a lack of micro management, poor communication regarding tasks and deadlines or thinking patterns, behaviours or habits of individual employees.

One of the best remedies that can be recommended to any employer experiencing these problems is to seek professional help from an external consultant or a firm specialising in workshops custom designed to address these types of issues. There are many reputable specialist companies able to achieve tremendous results.
